Against the turbulent backdrop of Cuba's history over the last 40 years, the biopic tells the life story of the exceptional ballerino Carlos Acosta.
Cuba, in the early 80s. Carlos is an impetuous, rebellious child with a great talent for dance – his father encourages him with a hard hand.
The young Cuban develops into the outstanding dancer of his generation and the English National Ballet engages the 18-year-old as Principal Dancer: the beginning of a unique career.
"A rousing, tumultuously acclaimed tribute to dance audacity and artistic risk-taking that goes far beyond a conventional biopic!" (Artechock)
"A stunning combination of feature film and dance ... The beautifully edited dance scenes give the film its pulsating emotional heartbeat." (Filmmaker Magazine)
