Against the background of a series of racist and brutal crimes, we follow the efforts of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense in New Orleans. With home visits, meetings and protests, the group under female leadership tries to win over the black community for its cause and to mobilize them for resistance. In addition to these scenes, which are carried by “Black Power” chants and form a kind of leitmotif, Minervini follows two young brothers. Their everyday life consists of hanging out and enduring benevolent motherly scolding.
