Wenn Fliegen träumen

In this tragicomic directorial debut by Katharina Wackernagel (Der Baader Meinhof Komplex, Stralsund), two mismatched half-sisters travel to Norway in an old fire engine. Wackernagel and brother Jonas Grosch have produced a film without outside funding that celebrates the absurdity of people and bizarre situations, while also exploring themes of loneliness and death. They brought together an amazing ensemble that includes Zoltan Paul (Breakdown in Tokyo, Amok - Hansi geht's gut) and Niels Bormann (SCHULD after Ferdinand von Schirach). "The often inventive images Wackernagel creates with her cinematographer Fabian Spuck and the humorous script make for an indie film worth seeing, the likes of which are rarely seen from Germany."
