When a local fisherman claims to have seen a mermaid, tourist flock to the isolated beach of Kiryat Yam, Israel saving teenaged Lana from yet another boring summer in her mum's cafe.
15-year old Lana kills time on the old whale statue stranded on the deserted boardwalk and hides from her mother's resignation, who complains repeatedly that the mayor pushed her beach café to bankruptcy, but does nothing to change her situation. Until one day a rumor spreads in town: a fisherman has seen a mermaid in the sea. Tourists flock to the sleepy, sun-soaked north coastal town and with them, a young attractive writer, who captures Lana's attention.
Soon they would find out that a small hope for something irregular can wake up a whole city and especially Lana's life.
