1875: Gold is found in the Black Hills. Gold miners, adventurers and profiteers flock to the land that was contractually guaranteed to the Dakota Indians. Among them was the land speculator Bludgeon, who attempted to expel the Indians using brutal methods - such as having entire herds of buffalo slaughtered. While Chief Farsighted Falcon and his men are out hunting, Bludgeon and his gang perpetrate a bloody massacre in the Indian village. The Dakota warriors fight for their rights and the gold digger town is turned into a scene of battle. TRAIL OF THE FALCON is a DEFA-produced film about the displacement of Native Americans by white settlers and gold-seekers.
