Maryam is a doctor in a small town in Saudi Arabia. Despite her excellent skills, she has to fight for the respect of the staff and male patients every day.
Maryam is particularly infuriated by the desolate condition of the road in front of the clinic. Because the city does not asphalt the access road, patients regularly get stuck in the mud. She cannot attend an interview for a better job because she is not allowed to travel without a male escort. Maryam seeks help from a distant cousin. But as luck would have it, he is a civil servant who only receives candidates for the scheduled city council election. Out of spite, Maryam declares herself a candidate.
