The merciless fighting between Christian and Druze militia in the region around Mount Lebanon ended in reprisals against civilians - in the form of massacres and displacement.
Entire villages were evacuated and destroyed. When reconciliation was officially declared in 1994, Christians were allowed to return to their villages. In the village of Aïn al-Halazoun, only one man decided to return to his village for good.
