South Africa, Free State Province, isolated stronghold of white Afrikaners. In this conservative farming area obsessed with strength and masculinity, Janno is an outsider. One day his mother, fiercely religious, brings home Pieter, a hardened street orphan she wants to save, and asks Janno to makes this stranger into his brother. The two boys start a fight for power, heritage and parental love. Etienne Kallo's debut feature portrays farm life in post-apartheid South Africa in sober whiteness, combining psychological terror with Christian ideas and imagery. "THE HARVESTERS is first and foremost a compelling human drama, a cautionary tale about male insecurities that captivates from beginning to end." (Darren's World of Entertainment)
