A document of horror with a historical focus on the period between World War II and the mid-1970s; in addition, an authentic appeal by those affected. Five former children of the orphanages remember the daily life in the orphanages, the psychological and physical violence, the prosecution of crimes committed in orphanages and the possibilities to complain. The film cautiously follows the brutally moving reports and thus reveals how educational harshness and coldness affect the character of a person. The documentary was produced to accompany the touring exhibition about Children's homes in Baden-Württemberg between 1949 and 1975.
