A vertical solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been found for the political deadlock in the Middle East. Palestinians have their state in the form of a skyscraper.
The building is called the NATION ESTATE. One colossal high-rise houses the entire Palestinian population – who are now finally living 'the high life'. Each city has its own floor: Jerusalem on the third floor, Ramallah on the fourth floor, Sansour’s native Bethlehem on the fifth and so on. Intercity trips previously marred by checkpoints are now taken by elevator.
In NATION ESTATE, part one of her sci-fi triology, Larissa Sansour works in her own stylistic mix of real film and CGI elements with an arabesque sci-fi soundtrack and futuristic folklore elements.
