Max "Adlersson" Herzberg from Dresden, 20 years old, has decided not to spend his life working. On YouTube he reviews knives and gangsta rap fan boxes.
More than 300,000 active fans follow Adlersson and his "Pfandangels" clique, who rather drink, mob, humiliate the weak and test their limits.
Is Max a violence-glorifying influencer with right-wing tendencies, or an ordinary adolescent in search of support and identity in a time when the boundaries between private and public life are increasingly disappearing? Perhaps he is both, probably without being too aware of it.
LORD OF THE TOYS accompanies Max and his clique for a summer, leaving a dystopian image of the first generation of young adults who don't know a life without the Internet, YouTube and Instagram.
