Based on his origins and personal background, director Sobo Swobodnik analyzes the social fabric of society and the German education system in particular. What is it like to be born into the precariat in the mid-60s in provincial West Germany? What is it like to want to leave this preordained traditional path and, with the help of literature, theater and art, to leave one's origins behind in order to "move up" into another class? In his experimental documentary essay on class membership and class struggles, Swobodnik, portrayed by actress Margarita Breitkreiz, returns to his roots in the Swabian Alb and comes to terms with his sense of perpetual foreignness in a social structure marked by security and predetermination.
