"There was no police violence" stated Olaf Scholz, Hamburg's mayor at the time. In view of the many videos of police officers beating protestors, this statement came across as mockery. "In a mixture of archival footage and interviews with experts of various backgrounds, demonstrators exercising basic democratic rights are treated as a disturbance and the actions taken against them by the state can be viewed as an act of intimidation against its own citizens."
