After a plane crash Martin goes on a search for traces from the Dolomites over Brazil to the ocean floor.
Filmmaker Martin Prinoth sets off with his cousin Markus to trace the roots of his family. Georg and his brother Markus were adopted as children. They we taken from Brazil to a small village in the Italian Dolomites and were the first and only children in the village with a different skin color.
Markus' brother Georg died in a plane crash over the Atlantic Ocean. He had gone to Salvador da Bahia to look for his biological mother and died on his way home. The film examines the effects of the adoption on the biographies of the two brothers. THE FIFTH POINT OF THE COMPASS celebrated its world premiere at the DOK.Leipzig Film Festival.
