In a dystopian Mexico, a drug-addicted father tries to survive with his young daughter Huck. He works as a groundskeeper at a baseball field where narcos hang out. When the narco boss schedules a fiesta, a rival gang attacks, and to the sound of mariachis, the violence escalates. The next day, only Huck and the cartel's wounded boss, who turns out to be transgender, are left - a showdown ensues. " Director Julio Hernández Cordón uses this MAD MAX version of Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" to introduce us to the trampled journey of his beloved main character. He creates a dystopian vision of a world of chaos and violence while still searching for lost innocence. It's a world that, though it follows the rules of science fiction, feels palpably human, as if it were real. (Pedro Segura Bernal, Viennale)
