Roy Andersson's (SONGS FROM THE SECOND FLOOR) latest work deals with human life in all its beauty and cruelty and was awarded the European Film Prize.
An undaunted narrator takes us by the hand and lets us wander dreamlike. Seemingly trivial moments condense into intense images of time and are on par with historical events: A pair of lovers hovers over war-torn Cologne; on the way to a child's birthday party, a father must tie his daughter's shoes in the middle of a downpour; young girls begin a dance outside a café; and a defeated army marches despondently to a prison camp.
"Roy Andersson once again gives us an infinite artistic pleasure." (Alejandro Iñárritu)
"How beautiful! Roy's films belong to eternity." (Carlos Reygadas)
