In Melilla, the Spanish enclave on the North African coast, young people like Ihsane, Assia, Nuhaila and Hamza, after fleeing Morocco, are confronted with a new reality. Alone, they find a common language in dance and join the NANA dance company, which offers them not only artistic expression but also a family support. After months of intensive training, the group qualifies to participate in the Spanish edition of “Got Talent”, which gives them a moment of fame and recognition. But after the spotlight, they return to their daily lives in Melilla, where the challenges of growing up and the uncertainty of their future await them. Elena Molina's documentary REMEMBER MY NAME follows these young people over a period of five years and paints a sensitive portrait of their realities. Molina succeeds in presenting the personal stories of her protagonists in an authentic way and without sentimentality, allowing the individual fates behind the often-used, yet anonymous terms such as “unaccompanied minor refugees” to become visible. The film premiered at the Festival de Málaga 2023, where it won the Biznaga de Plata Premio del Público. It was subsequently presented at the Festival du Cinéma Espagnol de Nantes and at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, among other places. In addition, REMEMBER MY NAME was nominated for nine Goya Awards in 2025, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.
