The janitor Lana shares a small apartment with her mother, who needs care. She observes a young woman in the opposite apartment block through a video camera and builds up an intimate relationship with her in her imagination. When Lana sees her new friend's happiness threatened, she leaves the role of silent observer and intervenes in the action. "153 METER is a visual declaration of love to the world of video. The visual materiality and texture make the film a reflection on the fantasy of a better life. With great love for its characters, the film balances between reality and longing, creating a multi-layered visuality: who is actually watching whom here? A work that draws the viewer into a voyeuristic battlefield and encourages reflection." (Sooner curator Sarina Laudam) "The actresses are members of a family - my family. Michaela Caspar and Maria Luise Preuss are, as in the film, mother and daughter living together in one household. Maria Luise Preuss has suffered from aphasia and hemiplegia since a stroke and is cared for by her daughter." (Director's Statement Anton von Heiseler)
