Songs for a Fox

After his lover's death, a rock singer studies the art of lucid dreaming and descends into a netherworld in hopes of being together again. In this magical fantasy drama, rock singer Dainius learns to dream lucidly and descends into the underworld to be reunited with his lost lover. Dainius lives in an isolated, dome-like structure in the woods and enlists the help of a local boy exploited by local moonshiners in his dream journey. This pan-Baltic co-production blurs the lines between dream and reality, mixing the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice with Lithuanian folklore against the backdrop of the lethargic post-Soviet province. Director Kristijonas played and sang in the short-lived Lithuanian cult band "Šiaurės kryptis", which disbanded after its first album in 1994. For the production of the surreal, dreamlike soundtrack, he brought his old bandmate Zigmantas Butautis on board.
