For Hanan, it is the place where she keeps her memory of the sea. When the young Yezidi woman crossed the Mediterranean in a boat, she could not swim. The fear of drowning had been burned into her memory, and to conquer those fears, she learned to swim. SEEPFERCHEN poetically explores this unpredictability of memory.
