For three months the artist and trained church musician traveled through the Balkan countries, visiting destroyed villages and mass graves, talking to survivors and perpetrators. Composed out of hundreds of watercolors a journey in poetic-associative imagery is created, which lets time- and country-borders fall, draws parallels to the war experiences of her own grandparents and asks the director and her generation about what they repressed. The paintings that served as the basis for the film can also be seen in numerous solo exhibitions.

Juliane Ebner embarks on a very personal search for traces of the war in former Yugoslavia. A film about us, our neighbors, neglect and the aftermath.
