Stavros, a shopkeeper in the Akadimia Platonos district in Athens, spends his life complaining about foreigners and hanging out in front of his shop with his friends . Many Albanians and Chinese live in Akadimia Platonos. The remaining Greeks feel like social losers. Stavros and his friends and all Greeks are frightened by foreigners. One day while they are all deeply immersed in gossiping, an Albanian man, Marengelen, comes along and claims to be a member of Stavros' family. Stavros' mother, half demendented by a stroke, believes Marengelen is the prodigal son who was left behind when they moved to Athens.
