In this DEFA classic, Toni is allowed to travel alone with his little sister by train to his grandparents in Bamsdorf. He has to take particularly good care of his four-year-old sister. But of course it turns out as he feared - Toni gets off at the wrong station, while Rita remains in the compartment and continues on her own. Now a turbulent and adventurous journey begins for the siblings. THE TRIP TO BAMSDORF was the directorial debut of Konrad Petzold (Das Lied vom Trompeter, Weiße Wölfe, Der Scout ) and also his final project as part of his directing studies. Although only 39 minutes long, the film was shown in cinemas in the GDR. It was such a great success that the sequel ADVENTURES IN BAMSDORF was released in 1958.
