Home in the Ice

1949 - Germany after the war. Destroyed, with no prospects for young women in a country where men are few. The Icelandic Farmers' Association places an advertisement in the newspapers of Northern Germany: "Female agricultural workers wanted from Germany". 238 women from Germany follow the call, ship to an island in the North Atlantic, completely unknown to them, and Iceland experiences its first large mass immigration. Each of the women had their own personal reasons for leaving their destroyed homeland in Germany and remaining in the seclusion of the volcanic island.
