Andreas Gursky (*1955) is one of the world's most successful contemporary photographic artists, whose large-format prints have long reached record prices on the art market. Filmmaker Schmidt-Garre looked over the photographer's shoulder as he worked. From the first inspection of the subject and the photographs taken on location to the digital post-processing in the studio, he follows the path of Gursky's work "Hamm, Bergwerk Ost". It finally ends up in the private collection of oligarch Victor Pinchuk, one of the richest men in Ukraine.
