A Portrait - The Choreographer Sasha Waltz

Sasha Waltz is one of the best known and most exciting choreographers in Europe. Her choreographies always surprise the audience with new aesthetics in exciting spaces. Waltz is not only interested in working with dancers, but also in the dialogue with all artistic forms. In the production of the Purcell opera "Dido & Aeneas" she also developed a new genre: choreographic opera. The spectrum ranges from Purcell, Berlioz, Stravinsky to contemporary classical music. Together with the French composer Pascal Dusapin she has created the two operas "Medea" and "Passion" and collaborated with the Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa on "Matsukaze". The film allows us to experience all these moving and aesthetic pieces in excerpts when Sasha Waltz gives us a deep insight into her artistic work.
