Genkingen : a Swabian folktale

On 04.11.1981, deep in the Amazon forest, Werner Herzog pulled a ship over a mountain. A metaphor that has etched itself into the hearts of movie lovers everywhere. Werner Herzog once walked from Munich to Paris. In his book about the journey: "Vom Gehen im Eis" ("Of Walking in Ice") he pays tribute to the small village: "Not much is going on in Genkingen". But, 35 years later, it is once again time to pull a ship over the mountain. This time in the highlands of the Swabian Alps. "Congenial, witty, touching. An affectionate portrait of the strange goings-on of the Genkingen natives and the filmmaker's own experiment in perseverance." (SWR)
