Yony Leyser's Berlin docufiction is a “realistic time capsule of the Berlin underground scene” (Vice). With Nina Hagen, Peaches, Rummelsnuff and Rosa von Praunheim. Ezra, a young American of Palestinian-Israeli descent, spends most of his time taking drugs, exploring the notorious Berlin club scene and engaging in pseudo-philosophical conversations, while dreaming of furthering his career as a writer. Together with his dark and witty girlfriend Catharine, who has a pronounced fetish for Nazi accessories, he embarks on a quest for ever new kicks, which eventually leads them to one of Berlin's most famous hustler bars. In this bar, Ezra meets Sasha, a Russian immigrant who earns his living by working as an escort. From then on, they explore Berlin's nightlife, the traces of the Weimar Republic and the Second World War together, but the boundaries between reality and desire gradually become blurred in the course of their hedonistic adventures, much like a drug binge. What begins as a seemingly conventional relationship between two homosexual men develops into a far more complex exploration of their own longings and desires as the plot unfolds. Against the backdrop of the original locations, the film features guest appearances by numerous Berlin scene celebrities, some of whom play themselves, including Nina Hagen, cult musician Peaches, Rosa von Praunheim and Blixa Bargeld, who previously played with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
