German-Polish culture clash. A German baker and Polish grand star Grazyna Szapolowska in a battle for the affections of his granddaughter, living Poland. Baker Werner Grabosch is heartbroken – after his daughter dies in an accident, his only granddaughter Matilda decides to leave Germany to live with her Polish father. So Grabosch devises a plan: he will visit the Polish in-laws for Easter, to reveal that the Poles are unfit to raise Matilda. He doesn't expect that he might actually like it there... POLNISCHE OSTERN is Jakob Ziemnicki's debut. He grew up in Germany after his family emigrated there from Poland after the declaration of martial law in 1981.
