From the tuba to piccolo, 66 women and 21 different instruments come together every Tuesday to make music together. Their combined age is more than 2700 years old: the youngest is barely 20 the oldest celebrated her 70th birthday years ago. Their joy in playing and in living is contagious — no matter whether they are performing in Berlin’s Philharmonic Hall, the Zeiss Planetarium, or a beer tent in Bavaria. At a time of growing social isolation, the FBOB is a piece of real solidarity; a place where perfectly ordinary (yet different) women pull together to pull off something extraordinary.
Portrait of the unique Female Brass Band of Berlin (FBOB), unique because it unites women of all ages and walks of life in the common cause of music.
