He rose to prominence with the 1990 film "La Femme Nikita" and gained international success with "Léon: The Professional" in 1994. Besson went on to direct box office hits such as "The Fifth Element" (1997) and the "Taken" series. He has also written and produced numerous films. Besson has received several César Award nominations and won Best Director for "La Femme Nikita."
