Klaus Stern is a German documentary filmmaker and filmmaker known for his precise and compelling documentaries. In 2005, his documentary “Weltmarktführer – Die Geschichte des Tan Siekmann” was awarded the Herbert Quandt Media Prize by the Johanna Quandt Foundation. The film recounts the rise and fall of the New Economy company Biodata AG, which developed security technology, and vividly illuminates the ups and downs of the business world. For this work, Stern also received the Adolf Grimme Award in the category of Information & Culture in 2006. His documentary VERSICHERUNGSVERTRETER – DIE ERSTAUNLICHE KARRIERE DES MEHMET GÖKER received the Helmut Schmidt Journalism Award. The film traces the spectacular rise and fall of the controversial company founder Mehmet Göker, whose unscrupulous methods shook the German insurance industry. The sequel, VERSICHERUNGSVERTRETER 2 – MEHMET GÖKER MACHT WEITER, sheds light on Göker's life after the scandal and shows how he continues to operate abroad and develop new business models while evading the German authorities. Both films are considered a precise analysis of power, greed and personal ambition. With THE MAYOR MAKER (2018), Klaus Stern delved into the world of political election strategies. The film follows a campaign consultant who uses unconventional methods to get local politicians into top positions.
