Candy Darling, born James Lawrence Slattery on November 24, 1944, was an American actress and prominent figure in Andy Warhol's entourage. Darling was a transgender icon known for her roles in Warhol-directed films. She starred in movies such as "Flesh" (1968) and "Women in Revolt" (1971). Her striking presence and talent earned her a cult following, but she did not receive major awards during her lifetime. Candy Darling passed away at the age of 29 due to lymphoma on March 21, 1974. Despite her short career, she remains a significant figure in LGBT history and the underground film movement of the 1960s and 1970s.
