Anthony Perkins was an American actor and singer, best known for his role as Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock's iconic film "Psycho" (1960). Born on April 4, 1932, in New York City, Perkins began his career on Broadway and made his film debut in "The Actress" (1953). His performance in "Friendly Persuasion" (1956) earned him a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Other significant films in his career include "Fear Strikes Out" (1957), "The Matchmaker" (1958), and "On the Beach" (1959). Perkins reprised his famous role in several sequels to "Psycho," including "Psycho II" (1983), "Psycho III" (1986), which he also directed, and "Psycho IV: The Beginning" (1990). He was known for his distinctive intensity and versatility, often playing complex characters. Perkins passed away on September 12, 1992, but remains a lasting figure in cinematic history.
