Over 40 years since Franco's dictatorship in Spain has ended, politicians and the courts are still grappling with past. Now, an Argentine judge wants to break the silence. Historians estimate there were more than140,000 victims of that regime. But, the Spanish state is not searching for the thousands of missing persons: mass graves are not being excavated nor are they being inspected by officials. This documentary by Lucía Palacios and Dietmar Post shows the victims of the Spanish dictatorship and their fight for justice. The hard facts take center stage and the filmmakers refrain from using background music or other effects. "Anyone who wants to learn about recent Spanish history and the current civic approach to it should watch this. It is an educational film." (nd-aktuell.de)
